Here at Rose, we are heading into 2013 with the wind at our backs. 2012 was a big year here. We grew our revenue by more than 20%, added 2 new motorcoaches including an ADA-accessible bus, purchased 4 mini-buses, and had the biggest month ever in September thanks to the Democratic National Convention hosted in our home city.
At the same time, we are saddened by the Oregon bus crash that killed 9 people and injured more than 3 dozen. The New York Times reports, “Two survivors of the crash said some of the people on the bus feared it was going too fast heading down the mountain.” A few paragraphs later, the article adds, “there was no answer at the telephone number listed for the tour company.”
Fortunately, a few organizations are beginning to recognize the need for stronger safety regulations in our industry. Many school systems now require charter bus companies to obtain TSX certification (Rose is one of the few certified charter bus companies in our area) in order to transport students.
Because of our roots as a high-service limo and chauffeured transportation company, Rose has always had a strong focus on safety. We sell our chauffeurs on safety. We answer the phone 24 hours a day. Rose makes every attempt to do it right. And we will continue to stay vigilant, because we care about every single student who steps onto one of our buses, every athlete we transport, every executive who sits down in one of our sedans. We intend to get each one to their destination as safely as possible, and in style.
Now, go eat ham and black eyed peas for good luck. Not that you’ll need it if you ride with Rose. 2012 was darn good, and 2013 will be even better. Happy New Year!
